IVF treatment is a complicated procedure which involves particular stages and scientists of various fields. This is why team work is a prerequisite.

The gynecologist is responsible for the clinical part, which includes woman’s cycle monitoring, individualized ovarian stimulation protocol, oocyte retrieval and embryo transfer.

The embryologist is responsible for the laboratory part: oocyte collection, sperm preparation, fertilization, embryo culture, embryo assessment and selection for transfer, gametes’ cryopreservation and thawing.

It is a team effort, in which the doctor should give good quality oocytes to the embryologist and the latter should produce embryos of good quality in the laboratory, in order to increase the possibilities for a pregnancy. In this procedure, each minute detail plays a crucial role.
